I absolutely love the effect of white pencil on a black background! Whilst very simple, they appear elegant and capture the subject in a more
visually interesting way than graphite, whilst still staying true to life and realistic. I also enjoy the challenge of drawing the highlights, rather than
focusing on the shadows and darker tones.

I use Faber-Castel Polychromos Pencils for this style of portrait.
